Hi everyone, it's been real busy for me for the couple past months, so I tried to do as much painting as I could.

When I was little, I always had a fear for giant, gaseous entities. When I first... looked at nebulae from books, I've always felt a sense of mystique and awe for these celestial wonders, and ever since, I've been meaning to try my hands on something this eerie. Ultimately I really wanted to portray something that's,... beyond human, yet still has the essence of man, and I tried to incorporate that element here, as the suited man is somewhat of an angelic or universal messenger.

For the making of this piece, I used mostly a hard, oval brush with noise on, and I tried to put a real grim and depressing feeling around the female figure, trying to emphasize how our world today is degrading by the second, while innocence desperately tries to invite the heart of mankind. I did run into some trouble when I thought about making an appropriate background, and it did take me a while to find the proper texture for an almost rusty and stone look, eventually I painted on top of the texture, and added cracks here and there to achieve the background.

Anyways, that's enough ranting from me now

Done in Photoshop CS from scratch, roughly over 1 month
C&C welcome : D

Dominance War III -Desecrator-

Long ago, during the age of magic and wonders, the gods sent forth emissaries as their order of manifestation down to the mortal world. The ancient inhabitants were well aware of these mythical deities and their presence on Earth, and as any being of lesser position, they constructed huge monumental structures to honour their creators. But no great civilization lasts forever, as time past these holy places became nothing more than degenerating relics. Soon these holy messengers lied dormant for countless millenniums well below the Earth, hidden from the world passing above, and waited once more for their masters' call. Finally, the sound of war across the world brought forth the awakening of these sleeping giants. Once again, these deities have taken arms to the gods' biddings, while bringing with them the relics of the past. Welcome to the new age of titans, welcome to the new age of the gods, welcome to Dominance War III

This is pretty much my character that I've entered for this year's Dominance War, Dominance War 3.

The Desecrator is the deity of the god Tlazolli (from Mayan mythology), he laid dormant beneath the earth, but with a visible artifact etched into his forehead, which was the only visible object that stuck out of the ground. The natives believed the artifact to be of great holy significance, and so they constructed a great temple around the sacred artifact, as a sign to worship the god. Over time, the civilization mysteriously vanished, and so nature reclaimed the temple with a forest. As Dominance War 3 came, this planetary beast awakened for battle. Conveniently, the temple had been attached to the deity, and now it serves as a garrisonable aspect of The Desecrator : )

Here's basically ALL the rough notes, profile, anatomy mechanics, and points of assembly from start to finish. You can read them all here from a Cgtalk forum thread, which was created as a mandatory requirement for all contestants to showcase their developments :

Hey everyone,

This started out as a speed painting practice in space environment involving some sorta robot, and what better I thought to do some Transformers? Since I've never done that before and I wanted to start trying my hands on this. Then later on, I wanted to go further into the details because painting metal has taken an interest within me. I've also wanted to play around with the different brushes in Photoshop, and to see how well they emulated the rough metallic textures of a jet fighter. I also wanted to play around with the light setting, and see how I should apply the light in regards to the surfaces of the metal.

For the references of Starscream, there weren't any proper references clear enough that I could find through the net, so I just improvised and did as best as I could with his anatomy, after all, I never intended to heavily rely on references for this picture.

Here are some close ups for those who are interested:
This was done as a gift for some one really special to me this Valentines, it's kinda late to submit this here but still, I hope you'll enjoy this as much as I did! C&C Appreciated!

I wanted to paint something that has a point of authority, so what better than a giant mech? I'm not quite sure about the scale of the gundam against humans. I used a toy model from a friend, and gave it a realistic sense of how it might be built in a real world situation.

The Emissary

You will change your ways and you will repent. Or we will wipe this place clean

The Acolytes are known as truth bringers in this existence. They have traversed through countless stars, born witness to negative suns. They are searching... searching for the one thing that controls the fate of everything and nothing. Worlds desecrate at their footsteps, nothing can stop them until their seemingly impossible mission is fulfilled.

I wanted to do something with a marching/striding attitude, but also to give sense of a mysterious and warning figure. Then I decided that I wanted to paint an apocalyptic background, so I went and played around with the colour pallet until I got this reddish theme.

Done with Photoshop CS (3 layers) with 15+ hours. Referenced on pose and cloth, and listened to NIN's album Year Zero for some inspiration.

Hey sorry for the lack of updates, I have just recently finished my second last year of high school, so I've decided to post this piece.

This was a practice of muscles (I guess) even though it's not really anatomically accurate to many degrees. I didn't want to make this version of Venom too thin nor too bulked, so I guess this was the right size for him. I also didn't want to have him slobber all over the place, so I had his drool to a certain level.

C&C are welcome!

Ever since I watched the Evangelion movie, I was always fascinated by the way how the mechs were designed, unlike other robots, their figures resembled very closely to humans. So in this picture, I wanted to bring out the raw energy between the fight between good vs. evil.

I did some slight moderations to the mechs' designs, got rid of the metal knuckles because I didn't like how it looked on the overall picture. I was originally going to put a progressive knife in 02's hands but it grabbed too much attention to the top right.

The "smoky" tentacles on the bottom adds a sense of constriction, sort of emphasizing the good vs. evil theme.

20+ hours in Photoshop CS, reference used on both mechs with some slight moderations

Black Inferno

"The Art of the Inferno. A technique that allows the user to control fire at will, first enveloping the body in flame and then shooting a fireball out in front. This technique is particularly effective when attacking enemies in front."

Fan art of a character from a video game.

When I started painting this, I realized that it would look better to sort of stretch some parts of the anatomy such as the arms, and bend the shins to create a more dynamic feeling (sorry I can't really describe that). I didn't particularily like the fire thats in the foreground because I could not get the right references I needed. So the shape is sort of supposed to be a "ring of fire" around this character as he is casting a spell.
